Hello Guys,

This is Satyadhar Kumar Chintagunta, currently pursuing my final semester in BTECH CSE(2018–2022) from Bennett University. I am working as a Data Science Intern in Deloitte Haskins and Sells LLP from November 2021.

What inspired me enroll for this internship?

Our institution provided us with several companies which are offering internships from WFH method(work from home), and I applied to a handful of them. Later after few technical and managerial rounds, I got selected in Deloitte Haskins and Sells LLP. The reason I chose this corporation is that it is a slightly different from other internships. Here, we were trained specialized tools and software in the early stages of the internship, which encouraged me to learn new skills and also gave me practical real life exposure.

Role and work

In this 8 month internship, we are currently expected to build relationships between dashboards, reports and visualizations using Python and Power BI. Help other teams with assignments, deliverables and also support teams in improving operations, resolving issues related to data and over all provide a top-notch customer Service.

Tools and Technology used:

  • Power Bi
  • Python
  • Java
  • Scala
  • Spark
  • Hadoop
  • Notepad++
  • Jupyter Notebook
  • SQL

Challenges being faced

The First Challenge I faced was co -ordinating with my team mates. During the time of my joining ,covid was on high swing and since everything went through online (work from home) mode, it really became hard for me to match with their pace. Later after many sprint meetings, I was able to overcome this and improve my efficiency in work.

Secondly submitting the deliverables on time was a bit challenging for me. As I am new to Power Bi, during my initial stages it became hard for me to submit assignments on time. Later after regular practice I improved my speed.

Experience

While working as a Data Science Intern at Deloitte Haskins and Sells LLP, I gained a lot of knowledge on various topics and also indulged to new tools. When I first started, I had some trouble learning how to use this new software, but with the support of our mentors, I was able to get through it. Aside from work, I’ve learned about the workplace culture and how a global firm operates. Engaging with mentors had helped me capture a lot of confidence in the system.
